Jean and David Marshall are delighted to welcome you to their website and an on-line glimpse of the home-grown treasures to be found at Green End Farm Nursery.
Set on the edge of the Peak District National Park, with Renishaw Hall and Wortley Hall both within the same local area, Green End Farm offers a wealth of interest not only to the plant connoisseur, but to lovers of cottage garden and alpine plants too. With many favourite hardy plants and shrubs to choose from, Jean also specialises in the not so well known varieties. There is always a selection of unusual gems to tempt the collector.
As well as being a busy plant nursery, Green End Farm is also a working dairy farm – home to both Shorthorn and Friesian stock. David oversees the farming operation but with serious help from Jean, especially at calving time – anecdotes upon request (but not for the squeamish!) Visitors will be enchanted to meet Bluebell, Jean’s special cow who has a rare bovine talent for counting – particularly when the items requiring calculation are of an edible nature.
Other local attractions include Wentworth Castle that is situated within 20 miles and Chatsworth which is a 40 mile trip away.
Jean may be found at many of the country’s favourite plant fairs and shows – her stand offering a superb array of the plants which make an English garden such a magical place.
ABOUT GREEN END FARM NURSERY
Jean Marshall has a wonderful nursery specialising in a wide variety of perennials. Being at 900 feet above sea level the plants are certainly hardy stock and a visit at any season will unearth some flowering gems for the garden. Many of the plants can be seen growing in the garden beds. I organised a group visit and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable time and came away with some lovely new plants.
